nneka is great player. texas is getting a good one. was hoping she might go up 35 about 90 miles. reminds me a lot of Sophia Young. probably a better player at this point in her career vs Sophia's. very athletic.
not surprising that the westlake picayune named enemkpali to their all centex team - she scored 30 points the first time the squads met last season, and dropped 20 the next. and while the statesman picked her teammate martin as player-of-the-year, interesting that it was enemkpali (who lead the team in pts/rbs/blks) who was named district mvp. her numbers (13.1 pts/11.2 rbs/3.24 blks) are certainly good, but may be even better than averages indicate. from the game log it looks like she was probably pulled very early in some contests; for instance she scored a single point vs. anderson (the panthers won 68-25 and were up 36-3 at the half). if she only saw a few minutes action in some of these blowouts it would definitely impact her avgs. really disappointing about her injury - even though the panthers lost to #1 nimitz in the state semis by almost 30 pts., they were only down 10 (38-28) at the half. enemkpali's injury at the start of the 3rd period really sealed their fate; no other player on the squad was taller than 5'10 so griner had a field day with nneka on the sidelines. i hope she is being very careful with her rehab and comes back even stronger...it's very impressive for a sophomore to put up those kinds of numbers, and against good teams and competition.
most exciting of all...enempkali and peoples on the floor together for 4 years!
