A guy who played for a few years at the top of the Japanese baseball system should not be eligible for ROY. To me, that's like considering for AL ROY a guy who played for a few years in the NL.

Soto is the reason no one talks about Fukudome. When you're not the best rookie on your own team, you don't get nominated for ROY.
