Signed up to run this today...looks pretty cool. Anyone else doing this? Pretty awesome that Austin is one of the 4 cities in the U.S. where this is going on, the other ones being New Yor, LA, and Chicago. The concert afterwards is Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals....whoever they are.
 
I'm all over it bro. I plan on loading up on empty carbs the day before at the tailgate. It should be fun. I think UTIceburg is in too, along with Mrs. Texashorne.
 
Just signed up...I have never run more than 3 miles so I better start getting my crap together starting today. Any advice for a noob?

Interested to see how many sign up - wondering if it will approach Cap10K, but I'm guessing it'll be smaller.
 
Looks awesome. I just started running again. I wonder if i can get up to a 10k by 8.31... I ran a 5k earlier this year but haven't done anything but sat on my butt for about 3 months. most i've run in last 3 years is an 8k... Would be an awesome goal though..

We briefly thought about doing it since it's the Sunday after the first game. But, then we noticed that it doesn't start until 6:30 pm. We'll be back in Houston by then.
 
I'll be running in Buenos Aires.

I just got my new running shoes in the mail from my mommy yesterday. (ASICS of course. Wouldn't run in Nikes in a million years.

I might be missing a city or two. My Ecuadorian friend is definitely running in that one, but I haven't decided.

Yeah my running shoes are Asics too...I won't run in anything else. I had some Reeboks and the difference is night and day. It'll be pretty funny to see all the people with shorts and shoes that are a brand other than Nike at a race put on by Nike.

The run is at 6:30 on Sunday evening....PLENTY of recovery time from the game the day before

Plus the next day is Labor Day so no work....helllz yes.
 
Mizzuno makes a good shoe, alot like the asics. It will be funny how New Balance and Brooks will likely outnumber Nike shoes at this thing.

Doesn't look too bad although 26th street will suck, as anyone who's ever had to walk to RLM or the Engineering building will attest.
 
sounds fun. i haven't run a race in years. the last one i did was the Bison Stampede in 2006. i wonder if i can get in shape on time for this one?
 
....that is to say if we don't blow away in this Cat. 5 hurricane we've got bearing down on us. I think I got a whole 1/3" of rain last night and today.
 
So they are going to start an August race in Austin at 6:30 p.m.? I hope they have a bunch of paramedics standing by. It is going to be brutally hot. I predict somebody is going to die. Seriously.
 
That's why I scheduled last week's Sunstroke Summer Stampede and this week's Margarita Run for acclimation purposes.
