New windows

Looking at two brands of windows, Peachtree aluminum clad hardwood, and an all-aliminum with a insulated break in it that is supposed to be well-made.
Anyone have recommendations? I googled and found some complaints against Peachtree, but I found a lot more against Pella, which are supposed to be good.
What about the argon filling? Does it always leak out, cloud up, etc.? Has this been improved over the years? Should I get this feature?

My argon filled doors fogged up badly. I'm about to replace all of the doors & windows. I kinda like the Pella doors with the louvers made between the sheets of glass. Bells & whistles always get my attention. My contractor friends like Pella. They sell a lot more, so I guess they might have more comments in general. Just a thought.
I haven't (read-my wide hasn't) decided on aluminum or clad.

Got the all aluminum with the thermal break, argon filled energy star rated, (for this part of the country). Havent moved in yet but so im not much help. I can give you an approximate price per window if you care. I want to say around 200$ but im not sure right off hand.

We are about to replace all of the windows in the house. We will be buying Marvin windows and taking advantage of the rebate. Would highly recommend that you look at Consumer Reports online – they have rating of the major brands and walk you through the process. FWIW, the Pellas did not score well in their ratings.

These Marvin's are aluminum clad with wood interior.

OK, I'll look at those ratings. But a basic question is about the argon filling-if you spend a lot on good windows and they are fogged up after five years, I won't feel too good about spending all that money. I would rather keep the crappy buider grade single panes that can provide a view of the outside world. That's my main concern.

Check the warranty closely. From what I hear, most of the good ones will cover fogged windows essentially for life. But you should read them carefully and be comfortable with both the installer and manufacturer.

I would doubt any of the single pane windows would qualify for the rebate (if that matters to you).

As far as aluminum windows, I keep hearing Don Young is the way to go.
