New UCLA coach

Cori Close assoicate head coach as FSU has been hired to replace Nikki Caldwell and ucla. Imo they bombed on this hire and the top 5 recruiting class is already starting to dissolve. The should've atleast hired someone with head coaching experience to take over at top 5 program right? I must admit that im a bit confused by this one.........

I'm happy for UW to get Coach Kevin Mcguff from Xavier.

As for UCLA, interesting selection. Would be curious to hear the press conference, if there is one.

I don't consider UCLA a top 5 program. But they certainly have name recognition. If UW could hire a head coach, it does make one wonder how serious UCLA is about their WBB program. Hard to think that was the best they could get to keep the program getting closer to seriously challenge Stanford every year. But maybe they have found the right coach to do that. Next few years will tell the tale.

I think UTFann referred to UCLA's upcoming recruiting class as Top 5, not the program overall.

Yes I was referring to the program. Top 5 regular season (before tourny) finish. No graduating seniors, and top 5 recruiting class. Although they haven't been there for long they are top 5 at the moment.

Ah, right, utfann. I hadn't realized that UCLA had moved up that high this past season. My apologies.

That hire looks pretty good to some Bruin fans as they think she may end up being a better fit than Caldwell. Of course, not all agree.

I'm starting to think UCLA made a good choice. She was an assistant for UCLA years ago, an "offensive specialist", and doesn't wear 5" heels like Caldwell. lol. Refreshing to see that this program take a chance on someone who doesn't see UCLA as a steeping stone but rather a destination. I'm sure she has great experience working under Seattle native Coach Semrau!
