My high school was the green wave and we used the green wave as the emblem/mascot that Tulane had abandoned for decades until it was recently revived. Now they are no longer a joke. Coincidence? I think not.

Big 12 rankings seem about right so far. We play the 3 above us in the next 3 games, with 2 of the 3 on the road. Going 1-2 would be understandable but not really a sign of progress from where we already were even if we win out from there including the bowl game (hardly a sure thing). 2-1 is probably enough to get to the title game if we don't get upset by KU or BU, but it would depend on the tiebreakers. 3-0 would lock us into the title game and probably result in finishing the year in the top 10. 0-3 would be a fiasco.

Chop, it’s the top one. My high school was built in early 1970’s after desegregation and chose Greenwave as the mascot (the original white and black high schools located in center of town were converted to middle schools and 2 new high schools were built to replace them in the east and west ends of the city, creating a rivalry that didn’t previously exist). Going to Myrtle Beach in the summer was very popular locally, so maybe that was the connection. Anyway, when the team ran onto the field, the home PA announcer would yell, “Here come the Greenies!”.
