New Texas Tuition Promise Fund

No...can you summarize what you do know?

We are just starting to pull money from the "Texas Tomorrow" plan which was purchased for my kid when it first came out...about 10 years ago IIRC. Do not think that these things pay for "everything." We are getting back about 6.5K per year from the fund for the 4 year assumed graduation period. The cost of school is, as you know, much more than 6.5K.

I am looking to do something like this now as well. I heard that you can get in anytime regardless of your childs age.

Enrollment for this go around ends in February, with a few months extension for kids under 1 yoa. Unknown when it will open again after that.

TT was a great payout for us. For the 13 K we paid in for the oldest in 98, it paid out about 24 in 2002-06. It keeps up with tuition growth, but not other fees. An added bonus for us, we had moved overseas, but the system treated him as a Texas resident due to rules.

The youngest went to a private college in NY, 3 years later. By then the tuition equivalent was over 30k, and the system paid that to her out of state college.

So, not a gold mine, but worked very well for us.
