5'5'' is short for a d1 point gaurd but I think that she really will help us. Im very impressed with her 10 assist per game. Now we need to reel in a couple of big post players.
Didn't seem to bother Riley from OSU or Bobbit from Tennessee. Her range looks awesome and effortless. And one has to really like that change of pace and ability to finish inside. She will certainly push Yvonne and Ashleigh to get better.
5'5 Shanice McKoy, FR.
5'10 Chelsea Bass, FR.
5'10 Tiffany Moore, FR
5'10 Chassidy Fussell, FR
5'8 Ashleigh Fontenette, JR
5'7 Yvonne Anderson, JR
For 2011-12, we add:
5'6 Cassie Peoples
5'11 Brady Sanders
That's 8 backcourt players, although I'm guessing a few could play small forward, as well. I can only imagine that we are done recruiting guards for the next couple of years (until we graduate Fontenette and Anderson after 2012), unless someone special wants to come on board. We seem to be in on Amber Orrange, but to tough to tell where we stand at this time.
I'm of the belief that you can never have enough guards; I just hope that as a unit, they bring all the necessary skills to play whatever kind of offense and defense we need based on the matchup . . .
Nice find. Offensively, on that clip, she really does remind me of Riley with her effortless shot from outside and her change of pace to blow by defenders.
I can't help but wonder if McKoy's signing had something to do with Lauren's dismissal. We've obviously been recruiting Shanice for a while, but I would have put Power Forward as more of a position of need than Guard.
I agree, Moo. PF or post would have been a more needful position than guard, given the few number of posts (3) on the roster for 2010. Kat is really a hybrid, capable of playing SF/PF/SG. Still, even with Lauren and signing McKoy, that would not have hurt the rotation at the G/W positions. I don't think one would have anything with the other besides the unfortunate timing.
