New Series to Catch Up On

I don't get HBO, so I'm going back now and I'm trying to get into some of these series.

Based on a recommendation, I'm going through The Wire right now, but I need help on which of these series should be next in my Netflix queue. These all seem to be pretty well regarded around here.

Deadwood
Six Feet Under
Nip/Tuck
The Shield
OZ

I like the crime drama, but more than anything I like a good story with interesting characters. I would also like one that gets me hooked on the story as the characters develop. Give me a good recommendation, and I thank you in advance for the help.

Of the shows you listed, I would rank them in this order:

Deadwood
Six Feet Under
OZ
The Shield
Nip/Tuck

Nip/Tuck gets ridiculous pretty fast, imho; I stopped watching it altogether.

I would put Dexter above all of those. Don't know if it's on video yet - season three starts next Sunday.
