New Restaurants?

Back in town for a long weekend. Any good new restaurants open in the last six months. Looking for some breakfast and lunch spot as dinners are already planned. A few favorites as a frame of reference - Polvos, Mirabelle, Casino el Camino, Austin Tex-Mex Cafe (still open?), Vespaio, Juan's - this list could go on forever - food is good!
Thanks.

Vespaio has opened a new, more casual cafe right next door - Enoteca Vespaio. I've been for lunch during the week and it's solid. I believe they open for breakfast as well as lunch/dinner.

The Capital Braissaire is one of the better "new" restaurants, IMO. Very nice menu, and great wine list with relatively reasonable prices.

One of the owners of D&L's Texas Music Cafe on South Congress bought out the other, and it's now called "Beck's". Sunday lunch on the patio can be a lot of fun, especially if somebody as good as Red Volkaert is supplying the live music.

There's a new pizza joint just south of there called "HomeSlice". It's pretty decent NY style pizza.

And, continuing the 78704 theme, up near the corner of Academy & South Congress is Doc's Motor Works. I wasn't thrilled with my burger there, but it's a fun bar & patio for hanging out.

So is Freddy's on South 1st.

And the Paggi House has reinvented itself as a more casual bar/restaurant. Don't know if they do weekend lunches or not.

There's also Taverna at 2nd & Lavaca, and Dona Emilia's on 1st (Cesar Chavez) across from the Four Seasons.

That ought to get you started.

Thanks all. Forgot about the new addition to Vespaio - had a fantastic breakfast there just after it opened. Lived right next to Freddy's for a while - what a great HH joint.

I've been to Doc's twice now. Food and service sucked. Ambiance is pretty cool, mainly because its on South Congress.

Yes, go git you a slice o' pie at Homeslice. Mmmmmm, that is some good pizza!

They do a great version of a croque madame at Capitol Brasserie. The charcuterie platter is great too--boudin noir and pate de campagne among other selections.
