New Ping G2 Irons

Good Gawd these sticks are ridiculously forgiving. I put some of that tape on the face of my 5 iron because I couldn't tell whether it was pure, heel, or toe. I hit about 5 shots in a row at the range, all extremely high right at about 180, and they were all off the toe.

So much for worrying about ball striking.

I have the I3 irons and love them.

I just traded my Titleist 983E driver for a Callaway ERC Fusion. So did my a friend of mine. We are both decent golfers and we are each hitting this further than any driver we have ever hit. With little effort.

I cannot tell you how bad *** this club is. The ball just flies off the face. ERC

when I start playing like **** with my blades, I switch back to my i3s to get my confidence back.

if you are going to get a set, MAKE SURE you are fitted properly. otherwise you are going to get a nice crack at the hosel like my friend did when he tried to have them bent.

I would get the TM over Titleist. I don't like Titleist's head shape and I think it is too hard to hit consistently. You can get a TM 580 right now for $199.00, which is a very good deal for a good club. The new TM has variable weighting to iron out a draw or fade, but I haven't hit it yet.

I have the Cobra 440 SZ, and I would say it is the most forgiving and solid driver I have ever hit. I have hit just about every driver on the market except for the new Callaway fusion referenced above.

Get fitted for sure. You can go online to the ping website for a rough idea, but getting pro fitted is important because they can tell quite a bit from your trajectory and your plane will affect how much your lie angle departs from normal.

I got 1.5" long and 5 degrees up, and it immediately took away my cut shot, which was my standard ball flight with my TM 320s. Now I am getting a barely perceptible draw and a much higher trajectory.

Hyatt Hill Country this weekend, see if I can have a decent first round.

suttree,
would you credit the clubs with shaving any strokes, or have you not hit the course yet? i was thinking about getting the g2's myself.

Some are big fans of Ping irons, but I have never been. For my money, I don't really don't think you can go wrong with any of the Mizuno irons. I've been playing the Mizuno MP30 irons for a year now and have taken my handicap from a 17 to an 11. Couple those irons with the the Titleist 983K driver and you've bought yourself a new game (if youre a decent enough golfer)

For those that have issues with the shape of the Titleist driver, the key is to open the face a little and not hood the club.. Take the normal swing and goodbye ball..That club is ridiculous

I love Mizuno irons. I am looking for MP-37's but left handed clubs need to be ordered at full price. I have the COMP-EZ irons. I love the forged feel and I can tell where the ball is going before it gets to the green. Sweet irons.

didn't get a chance to play this weekend but did make it to the driving range with my new clubs. It's amazing how good they hit. I think I'm in love.

Played Hyatt Hill Country over Father's day weekend with the new G2s and shot a 92. Please be advised that the greens at HHC suck balls, are completely unplayable, and you should avoid that course at all costs. I had 3 4 putts, 8 3 putts, and only made par on holes where I hit my approach within "gimmee" distance, which was soon advanced by my foursome to anything within 6 feet.

As far as the irons, they are silly. It took me a while on the range to adjust my posture to the longer shaft and more upright lie angle, but once I did I was getting a great trajectory and about 5 extra yards per club. I can't tell whether they were spinning because the greens were so ****** that everything plugged, including a 205 yard approach I hit with the 4 iron.

I also would higly recommend the new Winn Arrow grips, which are so tacky you can play gloveless. They are very comfortable and keep your hands stuck throughout the swing.

I'm not sure if I should have gotten the lite shafts, the clubs feel a bit light to me right now. I'm sure I'll get used to them, but my TM's were definately a bit heavier. I had a few swings get a little quick that produced an unwanted fade.
