New Orleans Question

I am planning a bachelor party in NOLA in January. Does anyone have a dinner recommendation for 12-14 guys at a place that is a little more casual than say, Commander's or Antoines type place? I was told Emeril's NOLA was a good idea but they don't take reservations for more than 10. Does anyone know of a little more casual, but still nice restaurant they would recommend? We are trying to stay in the Quarter.

Thanks in advance!

Galatoire's...don't go anywhere else. It's on Bourbon Street, you can get a reservation but I'd suggest just going and getting a big table. You won't regret it.

They've always taken reservations for upstairs, but not downstairs. Anybody who has been there I'm sure would agree that it's not the same experience and only a fool would go to Galatoire's for (just) the food.

Galatoire's and Commander's are completely different. Many people come with a polo and jacket to Galatoire's. The jacket is only required for dinner and they have jacket's for you to wear if you don't bring one. I think it fits the bill of more casual than Commander's but still a nice restaurant.

Again, if you want a good meal then Red Fish Grill is really good, but if you want to give your friends a unique New Orleans experience then there's nothing better than Galatoire's in my opinion.

Went with bachelor party that exact size a few years back and we ate at the Palace Cafe. Everyone loved it. On Canal right outside the Quarter.

Took Mrs. Idahorn2 and the MIL to Galatoires a couple of years ago for lunch. Next door is some sort of sex device shop that sells a cookbook written by some black sheep member of the Galatoire family. Good recipes, but no naughty pics.

Great food at Galatoires, primarily Creole; I'd like to try both a few more times, but I think I prefer it to Antoines. (We have their cookbook too.) I like Prudhomme for Cajun.

my folks have lived in new orleans for almost 20 years, and i visit regularly.

galatoire's is the only place i have ever eaten, new orleans or otherwise, where i have left less than a 10% tip, even for the worst service. i left a nickel tip the one time i ate at galatoire's. i have never been treated so poorly in my life.

there are too many great places in n.o. to waste your time and money at that overhyped dump.

upperline
marigny brassiere (my favorite in n.o.)
cafe degas
bayona
nola
palace cafe
redfish grill
table one
gautreaux (just opened back up)

I am in the same quandary, however the bachelor party I am setting up is in March. What are some good hotels to look into? Preferably all over the price map as I don’t want to price anyone out of the trip.

Thanks
