More than double what the commies told us it would be. Not a shocker, but still.

I'm not a fan of Obamacare, but FWIW, the U.S. has spent around $1 trillion fighting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. As wasteful as government medicine is (will be), we could have mostly paid for it with what we've spent fighting abroad.

And for good measure, think about this... Obama would NEVER have been elected President without the election-year pinata that was GWB. So GWB, in a strange way, has produced both disasters (the two wars plus Obamacare).

Back to the regularly scheduled programming, let's all please vote Obama out of office this November.

Imagine the new estimates after the real world numbers start coming in when it really starts, in 2014.

**** the corrupt sleazebags of the Democrat Party. The **** they've pulled the past three years is nothing less than criminal.

Nice try, BI.

No Republican has ever approached the level of spending of the Obama Admin. For that matter, no Democrat has, either.

From what I can discern reading both sides/reports is that the baseline cost will rise quite a bit but will be partially offset by employers willing to pay a penalty for having employees drop private insurance for the public offering.

The original promises made that individuals will be able to keep their own healthcare policy has proven, once again, to be a lie. It's not going to do me or anyone else any good to want to keep my/our insurance policy if the employer just decides to pay a penalty rather than keep funding a private health insurance plan.

And, I'm sorry, but anyone that believes that the government bureaucracy will somehow be able to control costs better than the private industry is misinformed or foolish.

And, to take the Orwellian angle. The Feds are already creeping into our personal decisions when it comes to personal lifestyle decisions. What do you think is going to happen when they hold the strings of the healthcare industry? Do you really think the regulations will stop at smoking and seat belt laws? They're already trial ballooning regulations and taxes on sweets, soft drinks, fats, etc..

If somehow there was a way to harness the energy in the partisan hatred in this thread, we could power the entire country for decades. That would be productive!

It is only partisan if it exposes the Left.

I meet with hospitals, healthcare experts and consultants across the United States daily. I have yet to speak to one person that feels ACA will do anything positive for healthcare. Just expect mass closings of small rural hospitals and bust at the seams ER departments.

These projections are pretty much always wrong and by a long, long way. Have you seen how wrong the estimates were on Medicare costs? It was supposed to cost a tiny fraction of what it actually ended up costing. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

BuffaloBayouBevo,

The link you put up looks right but his conclusion on who's at fault are way off. When Bush took office the debt was $6 trillion and ended somewhere around $11 trillion in eight years. Obama took that S11 Trillion and in just 3 years has the debt at $15.4 trillion. There is a good chance it will be $16 Trillion when the election comes around.

Under Bush he averaged around $625 billion a year while in office that added to the debt and with Obama he is averaging about $1.6 trillion a year. That is not close to spending the same. Obama at this rate is spend $1 trillion more than GWB. You can't change facts. If GWB did get a third term no way he would implement Bushocare for $1.6 trillion for that one decision when our economy is struggling. Nobody in their right mind would have made that decision. For the life of me I can't understand why he wants to experiment with the costly solar energy companies and forcing the high cost of Obamacare, which triggers the cost of insurances and on and on when we are just trying to survive our state of the economy. Obama got elected because of GWB and the GOP will get elected Nov 12 because of Obama. Hopefully the next one understands that more spending is not the answer.

Limited financial resources under an already tough financial situation – then facing cuts in reimbursement of as much as 30% make rural hospital’s future very uncertain. Their remoteness and low population densities make on-going operations difficult under the new law.

Their ability to either form or join ACO’s will be limited due to the population requirements. Much of the formerly uninsured will be covered under Medicaid, which pays considerably below the actual cost of providing the care. They will see an increase in volume which will require additional investment in facilities and equipment not to mention expensive clinical staff. The rate of increase in needed expense will far exceed the reimbursements – not a sustainable combination.
