since good mexican food is so hard to find in north austin, thought I would share a little place on anderson lane.....la casita. its a tiny little place that has some excellent food, and is pretty cheap. the taco shells are fried when you order them. The carne guisada is the best I have had in austin. The crispy tacos with carne guisada, al pastor, and beef fajita are awesome. the rice kicks *** too.

I eat there all the time. I started going there almost two years ago when they were on East 7th. I worked down there for a couple of years and would eat there 2 or 3 days a week. And now I work about 2 miles from their new Anderson location, so I again eat there pretty regular. Their fajita tacos are great, and so is the Pollo Piki Piki. They do good breakfast also, and it is cheap. Yesterday I had the migas with chorizo, and it was damn good. Glad you are spreading the word, they need all the help they can get.

Damnit, I got stoked when I saw the title. I thought there was a good New Mexican food place. Grrrrrr.

Went there this week and it was great.

Very small and not busy at 7pm.

Had beef fajitas and carne guisada, beats all the chain food I drive past to get there.

Had dinner there tonight. Been a little under the weather, so I went with a big bowl of Tortilla Soup and it was pretty good. Big pieces of chicken, corn tortilla strips, avacado slices, a little cheese, and a tasty broth. Feel better already.
