Wow..I feel like a teenager on prom night.

Damn buildup to the new MB release has been going on forever and everyday I've been sitting with my 4yr old 1.4ghz model waiting. And now, finally, they update it and I buy one within like 10minutes without even thinking about it. Very premature credit card swipe.

Oh well...

Nothing too amazing when compared to the last model...faster speed, multi-touch track pad. But Mine is so old, this is going to be like driving a race car.

If only buying a Dell were so easy...

I love my mac as well, even if it is almost 3 years old... (we're talking pre-intel here, baby.)

Half gloating...half announcing the new product. It's been almost a year since they upgraded the MB, so it's a long time coming.

i think he was joking that "Photoshop" is the best game you can play on a macbook.

ftr, i'm jealous. my g4 powerbook is SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Also -- the first round of Intel Apple's didn't run adobe too smoothly apparently.

So that could be anoher angle to the photoshop comment.

Good move. I have a 6 month old 15" MBP at home and love it. I have to use a Dell Latitude at work and while it usually gets the job done it's often a PITA.

I just got this in my email and thought I'd post it here. Tammadge is in Austin and has made me a few bucks over the years through research studies.

The email address is [email protected] if you want to participate.

. . . and who have NOT set it up yet! This purpose of the study is to observe the consumer in the home as they take the product out of the box to set it up.

If this describes you, or someone you know, or maybe you planned on making one of these purchases soon . . . respond to the email by answering the questions below.

If this does not describe you, thanks for taking the time to read it, and disregard it.

Damn I'd love to do that...i'm out of state though.

I had a friend who worked at Tammage in college. I did so many of those damn studies. Extra cash was great, but I work in advertising and eventually felt bad about not telling them that.

Did one at Dell just like this one you posted. They put me in a room with a dell set-up in a box and a set of things to do (hook it up, get online, print something). I did it all but couldn't get the damn printer to work.

The guy finally came in and showed me some piece of tape that had to be removed before it would work. Very stupid.

My G4 is approaching 5 years now. Still runs great though, so I really can't justify buying the MBP yet. I think I'll wait till the next revision and then bump up... I want the new keyboard and the magnetic latch at least.

Congrats on the new MB. This is one impulse purchase that comes with no buyer's remorse.

I love my MacBook Pro. 3 gigs of RAM and it sings, baby. OS X ain't nuthin' but fine.

My old powerbook was running fine too. I had to replace the hard drive a few months ago, and put a new battery in..but it still purrrrred along.

Problem was that I've been doing a lot of web design work (which is odd because I'm a writer). And taking huge jpegs and resizing for web was just taking forever on that machine. It's stupid how fast these new ones are.

So my initial thoughts:

-Fast...actually, so freaking fast. Programs open and run at exceptional speeds.

-Monitor is too bright. I have to lower it a bit because at full power it's like the sun.

-Multi Touch: Pretty cool...haven't really seen any real value in it yet. I like scrolling pages with the trackpad, but that's not a brand new feature.

-New OS: It's cool..vs. Tiger it seems to just have a few more bells and whistles.

-Battery life: Usually says I have between 3.5-4hrs on a full charge. Haven't really tested that.

Otherwise, no buyer's remorse yet. I'm going to be building a page tomorrow so I'll be putting all this power to the test.

Sold my G4 yesterday..sad to see it go.

I sold it for $550.

It was a 15" 1.33mghz with a brand new 80gig hard drive and a battery only about 3 months old.

There were some small cosmetic issues on the shell, but nothing too serious. And the screen had some burn-in from the keypad. The buyer was not pleased about that. I did, however, write about the problem in the craigslist posting and then told him he didn't have to purchase it. He took it.

Oh well.
