New Laptop, 'Old' VGA monitor

I have a new Dell e4300 laptop with an E-port (pro3x) docking station. The docking station has both an VGA monitor output along with a DVI-D output. I want to continue to run dual monitors; therefore, one I can plug one into the VGA port but to utilize the DVI port will I need a $5 adaptor or a $200 converter?

A simple DVI-D -> VGA adapter should do the trick. (At least, I think the E-port docks use DVI-D and not DVI-I. A DVI-D plug will fit a DVI-I port, but not vice versa.)

By the way, good luck with that E-series Latitude. I bought three (two E5500s and one E6500) and have had nothing but problems.

Thanks for the comments. The company I'm with is switching out our HP laptops with Dell's e6400 and e4300. I was pretty excited about getting the slightly smaller e4300 and a new laptop in general until I started seeing the comments by various people while researching this issue. Further reinforces why I own an iMac for the house.
