New Honda Accord

Earlier this summer, my son wanted to buy a new Accord. He shopped at a couple of dealers here in the Austin area (First Texas Honda and the dealer in Round Rock) and he could not get a very good deal for himself as compared to a dealer in the Houston area. He used the dealers' websites to look at their inventory, etc.

He did some good research using the Consumer Reports web site to get an idea about dealer cost, etc. and he was able to get the exact car he wanted at a rock bottom price. In fact, I think it was several hundred dollars under the "dealer invoice" due to extra holdbacks in place at the time.

I always recommend Gunn Honda in San Antonio. I have purchased 3 cars from them or Gunn Acura. They always beat the local (Austin) dealers by a few thousand.

Not sure if the OP cares to get a first hand review of the car or not, but since I'm here...

I have an '08. Great car w. 3 exceptions

1) The 2.4L I4 has terrible drive-by-wire lag when accelerating from a slow (<5 mph) roll, like yielding for traffic at an intersection or pulling out of a parking lot. It's flat out annoying and possibly dangerous if you're not expecting it. By lag I mean press the pedal and nothing happens for about a second, then it goes.
2) The rear brake pads will wear out at around 15-20k miles. It's a known issue that plagues many, if not most, new Accord drivers. Hopefully Honda has a way to address this soon.
3) The XM radio tuner is defective. It will occasionally go completely silent even though the channel and song is displaying. Only way to reset it is by restarting the car. It's a known issue to Honda of America and no fix is available yet. Thankfully it's rare, but it's happened to me about 6 or 7 times in the past 18 months.
