New HDTV

My Panasonic 42" plasma met an untimely end this afternoon, so I am now in the market for a new TV, preferably in time to watch the game this weekend.

Anyone have favorites or suggestions? Any recommended places to purchase in Austin?

Definately recommend hlaustin. However we need a better definition of "untimely end" That sounds like what happens when you throw the remote without looking when the team loses.

Not that exciting really. It's mounted on the wall and someone tripped on a baby toy and fell into it. I don't recommend the result.

On the plus side the old set only has one HDMI port, and the new ones all seem to have at least three. I just try not to think how much that "upgrade" will cost.

A new 42" Panasonic 720p will be about $700 at Hlaustin's place. If you're aggy it might be $900.
Mine is performing just fine.

I've seen one of the 1080p Pannys for $999-$1100 recently - the 42 PZ80U.

amazon has been having some sweet deals, and no tax/shipping with scheduled white glove delivery. i got a beautiful 32" samsung LCD for $640 total - that one will move into the bedroom when the 48" Samsung LCD arrives with the boyfriend. Awesome picture - I love it.

Thanks for the help folks. Hlaustin helped me out with a great price on a replacement set. I highly recommended his place if you want to shop local at prices as good as those online.
