New fall shows

Anyone have opinions on some of the new shows this year? So far, I'm a fan of LoneStar, Chase and Raising Hope. I'm gonna give Blue Boods another shot, as I think it has potential.

Boardwalk Empire is good.

Not a new show, but the season premiere of Dexter was great and the previews for the upcoming season look really promising.

The DVR goes on overdrive Sunday night, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound and Down, Mad Men..

I was disappointed in the new Hawaii Five-0. Nikita: meh. But two thumbs up for Boardwalk. Blue Bloods has potential, like the previous poster said.

It's not technically a Fall release as it was over the Summer but "The Glades" on A/E is about to wrap up their first season. I enjoy it. It's light but fun as well as a new spin on detective work.

The main guy was a cop in Chicago and got shot in the butt by his supervisor who thought he was sleeping with his wife. Turns out he was about the only guy who wasn't. So he got a settlement from the city and moved on down to Florida to give it a go in the relaxing state. Wrong.

They will be running repeats during the Fall.

I need to start recording Boardwalk Empire, I forgot about that show.

Detroit 187 looks horrible. Can somebody correct me on this?

Really liked the whole truth. Thought it was well done. Nothing ground-breaking, but if you like shows like "the practice" you'll love it.

First segment is an overview of the crime. Second segment is "the prosecution." Third segment is "the defense" 4th segment is both. 5th was the courtroom. Final segment was the reveal of the verdict and what REALLY happened.

Also liked the Defenders. Undecided on CHASE... will give it another chance, though. Wasn't crazy about THE EVENT or Lonestar.

So the show was not as bad as the promos made it seem? It just seemed they made Imperioli's guy way over the top. Can you tell me a little about it and what you liked without any spoilers? I wanted to get into it but the trailers sort of lost me.

Blue Bloods looks good, can't go wrong w. the cast.
Hawaii Five-O looks good for what it is.
Lonestar is a winner.
Detroit 1-8-7 is decent, seems a lot more light-hearted then the shows it's trying to emulate (NYPD Blue, etc.).
We tried the Event but it just came across as a stupid LOST ripoff.
The Whole Truth is on DVR, haven't watched it yet.

Undercovers pilot was awful, but we'll give it one more shot. JJ Abrams after all.

What about the new sitcoms? Better With You looks potentially funny.

Belushi just isn't funny enough, weird enough or convincing enough for the Defenders to make it for me.

The Terriers (**** wofford) has just HORRIBLE.

The Event pilot was so disjointed that it was unwatchable. Like trying to jump into a series with a complicated running plot in the middle of the season.

Kinda enjoyed Mike and Molly. I'm a fan of Chuck Lorre. Particularly his subliminal vanity cards at the end of his shows.

Have not watched it, but Lone Star, which garnered positive press and good reviews prior to the new season actually beginning, has been cancelled after two shows.

Damn, LoneStar already cancelled. At least I wasn't too invested.

And yes, Raising Hope is amusing. It got almost zero press that I saw, so I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it. The cast is kind of hodgepodge, but solid.

I REALLY want to like Chase, but still deciding. The second episode was OK.

Bummer about Lonestar. Guess we'll try Chase to fill in the blank. After some of our previous favorite shows were cancelled within the first season (Unusuals,Journeyman, Black Donellys), we've been hesistant to watch any shows during the first seasons until we know they are sticking. But our well is running dry so we're trying new ones again.

Just watched "No ordinary Family"

Basically its an "incredibles" the tv show.

SPOILERS

Mom who never has time to handle her job and family gets the ability to run 600 mph.

Dad who is police sketch artist and feels handcuffed by his bad relationships with his family and work... gets super strength and can stop bullets. (basically indestrucible, too)

Sister who has relationship issues at school can read people's minds.

Brother who is the slow learner gets super-smarts.

They all have ordinary family issues but likely from their extraordinary powers. Looked decent. VERY WELL DONE PILOT!!!

I actually kinda' like Hawaii Five-O. In true CBS fashion, it's cheesy and the plots are flimsy, but the acting is solid and the chemistry among the actors seems to work.

Lone Star was a dog that needed to be put down. There wasn't a single character on the show with whom I could genuinely empathize.

For those who enjoyed Arrested Development and anything else starring Will Arnett, I would recommend his new show on Fox, Running Wilde. It's been pretty good so far.

Nearer the other end of the comedy spectrum, Outsourced
looks pretty much unwatchable. An occasional joke about Indian accents and mispronunciations is one thing, but basing an entire TV show on such jokes is just stupid. Makes me wonder who at NBC greenlit that mess in the same lineup with greatness like Community
and 30 Rock
.

If you want a second chance at the best show that few people watched you can catch Friday Night Lights on ABC Family at 5. I've never missed an episode, but am so enjoying starting over again. Only one more season - sigh.......
