Two conferences with four teams each, in the Top 10.
ESPN rankings page for Sept 21

OU
Missouri
Texas
Texas Tech

Georgia
Florida
LSU
Alabama

So now what can the ESPN talking heads flash up on the screen? "First time ever that 4 teams from the same conference... from TWO different conferences... are in the top 10."

(Behind the production barriers they are saying, "we can milk this for another week for sure.")

ps. I just noticed that if the above is true... then that leaves only two spots in the Top 10 for all the other conferences put together. ESPN WORLD might focus on these two successful conferences, or they might spin something unique about USC lording over even that.

Guess they'll say USC is in another world entirely. Like, maybe, semi-pro? Junior NFL? They have to come up with something.

Last week for the first time ever, a conference had 5 teams in the top 10.. LSU, GA, FL, Bama, and Aubbie..

Big XII had 4 in the top 11, so that's 9 out of 11. Not too shabby..

This week it's 8 out of 10..

SEC and Big 12 are easily the top 2 conferences this year. Of course SEC gets the higher rankings overall and probably won't drop as far when they beat each other vs. the Big 12 drops that eventually will occur.

What this all really means is that eventually, later in the season, there are going to be 3 teams possibly from each of these 2 conferences that deserve to go to a BCS game. However we all know that they have that stupid rule that says only 2 teams from teh same conference can go. So at least 2 really goodd teams will F'd over this year due to this stupid BCS system....and the BCS system is more than a #1 vs. #2 game, it a system that involves other BCS games, a compromise from the old bowl alliance system, and system that generally rakes the non BCS conference teams.

I hope they find a way to match those 2 really good teams up in says the cotton bowl or something.

Big 12 also has 3 teams just outside of the top 25..Colorado, Nebraska, and Ok St.....and of course Kansas at #18.
