New dishwasher........

Not for me but for my parents. This is a rental property that they own and it isn't a high dollar house. Looking for white as the appliances are white. My Dad is slowing trying to get some new appliances in there as I think he wants to sell it in a year or so. He got a new range/stove last year.

Price range is $250-400. Looking at Whirlpool and Kenmore likely. Went to Sears with my Dad last night and saw some that were QuietGuard Standard and QuietGuard Deluxe. Thoughts on these? Compared to Whirlpool?

Try the clearance section at Lowe's and/or Home Depot. You can usually find some really good deals on stuff like this in the price range you mention. Good Luck!

We have found plenty in the price range. The question we are wondering is -> get a Kenmore or a Whirlpool?

If it is a rental property I would go with a cheaper option. You can never tell how a tenant is going to treat your appliances and what not.

Will sell you my 1 1/2 yo GE white for $75 - not sure of model # or features. My wife wants ss. Must pick up in SA.

Whirlpool DU1055XTV[Q] This is the model rated highest by Consumer Reports in your price range.

Also, check out the scratch and dent places. Often you can find a range with a dent in the side that can't be seen and get it for a fraction of new prices.

I understand that Kenmore is actually manufactured by Whirlpool and sold under a separate name.

The lovely Texanne, as usual, is right. Whirlpool makes the Kenmore dishwashers for Sears and both are rated pretty good.

I also agree with the scratch & dent approach. We have a Bosch that I got at Lowes for $200 off because it was the floor model and they lost the manual. Most all manuals can be obtained in PDF online, so that was no big deal. Sears has some outlet stores with some pretty large discounts too.

Yup right on the mark. I've actually worked at sears and I always recommended whirlpool to friends and family. As for Bosch, they are good but I'd go with a Bosch in the dishwashers (excellent noise and vibration reduction features). As for washer/dryer, I'd go with the whirlpool for conventional/top loaders and the Samsung or the Kenmore with steam in the high efficiency models.

My experience with the Sears Outlet Stores is that they were more expensive than brand new, unblemished at Sears. I think it was a clothes washer or dryer that I priced, but I was simply floored and I wore out the people at that store.

I've been looking at dishwashers too. I was leaning towards Bosch, but since researching them, I've learned most of them do not have food grinders/food disposals. I don't want to have to wash my dishes by hand prior to putting them in the dishwasher. Plus the reviews say they don't dry dishes as well as others. They are more eco friendly though I guess. Am i missing something?
