New basketball commit

Great catch- it seems he is viewed as 'raw talent'.

But, can someone explain to me how we have room for 5 recruits? Are we expecting the NBA draft to reduce our roster already?

and unfortunately I think Hamilton goes pro for sure if not Thompson as well.

Anyone know if the Deandre Daniels train has passed yet? I know that, at last glance, we were still in the running with his recruitment.

I am worried about size next year. If Thompson leaves early, Scary Gary graduates, Hamilton leaves early, Hill graduates, then then only guy left with size is Wangmene. I don't know what Chapman's situation is and if he will be able to come back next year.

The size of our recruits coming in is pretty decent. We have a 6'2" point guard, 6'5" shooting guard, 6'8" small forward, and a 6'8" power forward that have all committed. I think Chapman is just redshirting to clear the benches so that he gets more playing time. And then I think it's a lot more likely that Tristan stays than most other kids in his situation because of his humbleness but most importantly all of his friends that will be on the team.

TT returning is huge for us yet I really don't see that happening. He's viewed by many as a first-rounder. Some scouts love him and think he's a guaranteed NBA star, others think he needs more time. I'd say enough scouts and analysts consider him a first-rounder for him to grade out there and leave. But I could be wrong with Joseph staying, and the new Candians arriving. They may form a pact to all four play together. First-round money is rarely passed up though.

If he stays it will make a huge difference in our progam next year. However, it seems we may be a little small and certainly lacking in depth. I really hope we go deep this year, next year may be painful at times.

Free throw shooting and other developmental needs notwithstanding, I believe Thompson's athletic ability could make him a high 1st rounder - possibly even a lottery pick. If so, good for him, but boy will he will be missed.

A lot of it depends on how the rest of the season plays out, but if he made the decision today, I think TT would be staying.

Tristan's free-throw shooting won't scare away the GMs, but the fact that he's two sizes small for his position will. (At 6-foot-8, he's got the size of an NBA small forward but he plays more like a true center.)

I understand Jim and agree with what you say, but there seems to be intangibles with this kid that are off the charts. I made a joke a while back about him having explosives in his legs and I don't mean just his vertical jump. He gets off the floor faster than most anyone I have seen lately. He plays much bigger than his physical stature.

At his size Tristan needs a game that faces the basket. I'm not saying his back to the basket skills are deficient; just that it won't be enough.... this to me is the key to his return... further development... but if he is guaranteed top ten money then how can he say no? I think he is emotionally drawn towards UT right now because of all the excitement; when things die down and finals week rolls around then I'm afraid it will be a different story...
