Ridiculously hideous.

It may be photoshopped. However, the Ags are eating this up on their site, Texags.com. This came from the farmers, not us!

I knew this was coming. Seriously. I knew it a few years ago when aggy copyrighted that logo (T with a star across it).

I think part of the explanation for aggy's twisted psyche is self-loathing. They hate it that they are not Texas. If only they could be Texas, instead of Texas A&M. Thus the whole "Texas Aggies" deal.

And now they will be taking the "A&M" off their helmets. But they will still be A&M. When they play on TV, the score on the screen will still show "A&M" or "Texas A&M." When ESPN or some other media outlet prints or broadcasts a college scoreboard, they will still be "A&M" or "Texas A&M."

I was so glad when SW Texas St grabbed the Texas State moniker. That was aggy's last best chance to change their identity. University of Texas, taken. Texas Tech, taken. Texas State, taken.

Poor aggy.

Granted it's photoshopped, but I sincerely believe they will eventually change to this helmet.

It might be good..for Texas State. Guess Agricultural and Mechanical, that stalwart bastion of tradition, is ditching theirs.

You know this all started when they changed the official school name from Texas Agricultural & Mechanical University to Texas A&M University with initials only.

When they get rid of the A&M completely they can be the dear old "Texas U" their fight song always sings about, you know "t. u."

What team with any kind of real name recognition has candied up their uniforms in recent history? Aggy just joined the ranks of Iowa State.

Those helmets.... they are awful.

TexasEd, the name on my Aggie father-in-law's ring said the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas". I'm pretty sure they changed it to Texas A. & M. University in 1964 or so.

What I don't remember is whether they took the periods off "A" and "M" then, so that A&M doesn't stand for anything except A&M.

That means to me that they are ashamed of the words "agricultural" and "mechanical".

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It's like when you were young and your little brother or sister wanted to do everything like you, so they annoyingly followed you when you went out to play with your friends, but could never quite keep up. Except in this case, the "playing with your friends" is being a relevant football team.

I'm guessing that will not be the helmet logo next year.

But if it is, ignoring the bass boat helmet, I like this logo better than aTm.

It'll just add to their tradition of being represented by obscure symbols. Not a lot of people outside of Texas know what an Aggy is, or what it means to gig something or someone.
