Netherlands, Amsterdam, Den Haag

I'll be in working in Den Haag which is about 45 minutes outside of Amsterdam. If you have traveled to that region or the surrounding cities, I would appreciate any advice including transportation. I plan on exploring on the weekends.

There is a super-cool fortress town just outside of Amsterdam named Naarden [you may need to check the spelling]. It's worth an afternoon of mindless wandering.

Den Haag seemed kind of boring. Amsterdam is pretty cool. Walk the red light district some evening to say you've done that. There are tons of places to hear live music. Van Gogh musuem is awesome. Warning: in Amsterdam, the streets change names like every other block (as I recall)... It sucked navigating while driving.

I just got back from Amsterdam yesterday...it was awesome.

I took a tour bus to Naarden, and it was indeed worth it. They had the cheese auction, which is Friday only, and we toured a wooden shoe factory and a windmill farm or something.

Of course we did the red light district, van gogh museum, diamond museum, Holland Casino, etc..

What made it even better was the Euro cup is going on, and we were there for the Holland/France game. We hit up a local bar, watched the game and drank the night away with the rowdy locals.

Awesome trip...
