I live in Austin and let's say I have a movie coming to me from Austin and that I ship to an Austin center...

So let's say that I put it in the mailbox on Monday morning. They receive it on Tuesday afternoon, do they ship Wednesday morning and I get it Thursday?

Or if I drop it off on Monday morning, do they get it Tuesday and ship my next one Tuesday to get to me Wednesday?

I never seem to pay attention.

Most movies in austin are a 2 day turn around for me. Mail Monday, they get it tuesday, mail tuesday and I have it on Wed.

I just resigned with Netflix and the above poster is correct. If you mail it Monday morning you will get new movies on Wednesday. I thought the center was in Houston though.

They do not ship anything on weekends or holidays however so I am going to try and watch 2 of my 3 movies tonight and send them back tomorrow. That way I will receiver 2 more on Saturday.

They have an Austin mailing center for those in AUS. I ask b/c I mailed a movie on Sunday which is basically mailing it Monday. And it was to an Austin center. But it didn't show them receiving it until this morning which I guess means they received it Tuesday afternoon. And they didn't mail the next until today despite no wait. So that means ship Sunday, get back on Thursday. I see that it varies. I wonder how much time of day impacts it.

I thought that I had shipped some on Monday and got back on Wed. before.

If you rent alot of movies, it will begin to take longer. It will start taking a day two longer for them to get them and an extra day or two before they ship them. Popular new releases will sit at the top of your queue for a month or two when they first come out also. If you are like me, you will continue to put up with this ****** treatment because there is no better alternative.

I have hundreds of movies in my list. Waiting a few weeks for a shiny new DVD does not do anything for me.

That describes my rental habits, Mac. Almost all the movies in my queue are older. I still can't get new releases.

I had Netflix before the Austin center opened and it was usually a 3-4 day turn around. (mail Monday, get new one on Thursday or Friday) I recently signed up again because A) Blockbuster sucks and B) Netflix has Lost on Blu-ray. The turn around time seemed a lot better, in some cases I would mail Monday and get a new one on Wednesday. This week however, I mailed a disc on Monday and the new one isn't expected until Friday, despite being available the entire time. I'm not sure why it varies so much.

I used to have Netflix (3 at-a-time) but after being slow-served too often (I live in Aus; put 'em in the mail Mon morn, sometimes get next ones on Wed, usually Thurs or Fri....sometimes 1 on Thurs, 1 on Fri, 1 on Sat) I changed to Blockbuster so I can exchange at the store & get my queue in the mail. I get 5 exchanges / month and usually 6 per week thru the mail which is plenty for me.

I thought maybe NF would have tried to cut a deal for store exchange w/ Hollywood Video before it went under.

How does the "Long Wait" work? If you have a movie at the top of your queue that has a "Long Wait" how long before you get it? Does the fact that you have it at the top of your queue help your chances?

in abilene it sucks (same with lubbock when i was there) you send it in on Monday, they get it Wed, and then you get teh next one on Friday....they all go through Dallas, but i guess I am used to it now, and dont really watch too many movies. I used to be on 3 at a time, but changed it to 2 since I dont have a lot of time when me and my girl can watch em, and 2 works great

as far as long wait, I just assume you arent going to get it right away and it will go to the one that has a short wait or available now, i sort of count long wait as not gonna get it for a month or so....

I was just thinking how I'm getting my #1 almost every time, and how odd that is. Usually I'm throttled.

Of course, they shipped my last one from Ohio, and it took 5 or 6 days.

Not really. They simply will send you movies lower down in your list in stead of just not sending you a movie at all. Previously, if you took all the movies out of your queue, they would send you whatever was on your list, regardless of wait time. They stopped doing that now. If you've been throttled, you aren't going to get popular titles anytime soon. If no other movies are in your queue, they won't send you any movies.
