This year....it's different

In the past Kinsler's brain fart in the 9th and Molina's bonehead throw woulda buried the StrangerS....This ain't your grandaddy's Rangers

Holy Crap. Remember that one!! I had a feeling he could do something there.

OBTW, Wash's move to not remove Lee when he went out in the 9th? His smartest move ever, and I"m sure he had NO intention of removing him. He was looking for points from Lee as well as the fans, and by God he got them.

Now, why he brought Feliz in in a tie game I will NEVER understand that. But that's the way baseball go.

My guess it was Kinsler's mistake. Right handed batter, so Andrus has to play his position and Kinsler cover. We'll see what they say. Either way, Lee can't catch a break.

you guys are right, Kinsler was charged w/ the error after the game ended..was Kinsler's cover...but I thought Bengie coulda held back seeing no one there....either way, we're rocking tonite- halos lose a tight one at home to the injured sox....life's damn good right now in Zealotville

fwiw, i'm watching the angels postgame show on fox west, it's like a funeral going on...we know that feeling as Ranger fans...but this yr is different

H69, I thought the same. Why bring in Nefti in a tie ballgame? Everything the Old School Brother does right now is turning up roses, tho. Dude should go to Vegas on the west coast road trip to cash in on his luck

It will be a crime -- a CRIME, I tell you -- if Nolan is pushed out by some upstart new owner. This team is a direct reflection of NR's leadership, and it's no accident that the Rangers are leading the division and hitting on just about all cylinders.

Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels have carefully crafted this team, and I, for one, want to see their leadership continue for years to come.

Anyone remember Bert Blyleven? During his time with the Rangers in the 1970s, he was the quintessential hard-luck pitcher. I don't know how many games he lost 2-0, 1-0, 2-1, 3-0 -- he had all the right stuff to get the hitters out (including an absolutely wicked curve), but he just couldn't get any run support. True, the Rangers offense back then wasn't nearly as scary as today.

It's even more frustrating with Cliff Lee, because the Rangers offense is known for being so prolific.

Good observation, Texanne. Consider the pitching matchups - when our ace is the starter, he is normally opposed by the other team's ace. You would expect a low-scoring game.

Remember 1968? Bob Gibson posted a 1.12 ERA and went 22-9. Over in the AL, Denny McClain went 31-6 with a 1.96 ERA. The difference? Run support. In Gibby's 9 losses, his ERA was 2.14. The Cardinals averaged 3.6 runs per game that year. If they had scored exactly 4 runs in each of Gibby's starts, he would have gone 30-2. So run support really makes a huge difference.

But I'm with you - Cliff deserves better run support, and I certainly hope the Ranger offense starts getting him some runs.

Alex,

You go all Chris Berman on me again, and I'll be on you like a pit bull on a poodle!

There are times that pitchers rack up great numbers with no run support. It's just a bad situation, but this does happen and hopefully this will resolve itself. Great pitching deserves great run support and good fielding.

I'm damn impressed with TA's knowledge &memory. I recall that as well, Blyleven would pitch gems for us and go away empty handed. Never saw anything like it. He belongs in the hall. Had the best curveball of his day & ate innings every start.

Might have been the best we ever had for his time here, even better than Fergie

Frustrating as hell b/c I wanted him to stay here.....he left us and never looked back at his first opportunity. I'm hoping that doesn't happen here w/ Lee.
