texassports.com has a good story on Nekia, a bit on how she got started playing and her goals at Texas. Can't wait to meet her and the rest of the frosh class during the summer.

Well, it's going to be interesting. I've never seen her play, but I think I read somewhere that she weighs over 250 pounds! That may not be accurate, but she's still probably the the heaviest wing/forward in women's basketball. Yet she's highly rated, said to be nimble on her feet, a good passer, etc. If she's a female Charles Barkley, we'll all be very happy. It seems likely that the coaches' will want to reduce her weight to increase her speed. Is she quick enough to play at the Division One level? We'll find out.

Nekia will be out to win both the shot put and discus this goround. She won a state title in shot put as a soph. and was 2nd as a junior. In discus, she has gone from 7th her soph. year and 2nd her junior year.

I had been wondering if she would compete in track & field here at Texas. The following quote clears that up: "she will also compete on Texas' track and field team."

She could be one nightmare matchup for other wings, able to post up, hit the three, and quick enough to penetrate from the perimeter.

I wonder if there are any plans to have Nekia play some sort of point-forward role; she seems to have good ball-handling and passing skills:
