Needing to establish a top RB?

I'm listening to the Fox guys talk about this, and their point is that when your QB is your leading rusher, it points to inadequacies in the running game.

Do you agree with this? I'm not totally sure - it seems to me that a big part of this has more to do with how well Texas has thrown the ball so far. The run game hasn't been dominant, but it hasn't been bad either. Maybe the reason we've thrown more is that Davis has been unhappy with the run and simply said "hey, I know we can throw so we just won't try to run that much."

My guess is that you'll see a solid if not excellent performance by the RBs today. I'm not convinced there's an issue with the backs - anyone disagree?

No kidding - i'm not sure I ever saw Vince knock down not one but TWO tacklers.

OK, that was probably poor tackling as much as anything, but still a really tough run by Colt.

Cody looks good, but honestly I thought Vondrell ran well too.

As I said earlier, I think part of it is that we're throwing so well right now that we're not really trying early on to establish a run, and it's hard to blame Davis for that.

what really puzzles me is the fact that, without an established back, we have apparently put all of our eggs in recruiting a back for next year that may eaisly outgrow the RB position. This is especially puzzling when one of the top backs in the nation has said numerous times that he would commit on the spot if we offered.

Colt is very underrated as a runner. Deceptively shifty ("deceptive," in this case, being a code word for "white") and runs through some tackles as well.

Colt is only outrushing the RBs because 4 of them are sharing the carries. I'd be worried if he was outrushing a guy who get 20 carries a game, but he's not.

Tonight he was the leading rusher with 83 yards but we had a total of 259 rushing. On the season we have 613 but only 194 belong to Colt. He's not gaining the majority of our yards, the RB's are.

I don't give a **** how many of them there are, as long as they cumulatively produce.

I wonder if they say the same thing about Texas Tech.
If you're scoring on the order of 50 points in a game, I don't care if you're bouncing the ball off your ***.

The question at this point is who is the RB?

It seems like Colt is running a lot.Cody Johnson played phenomenol tonight. I'm curious about the Big 12 play coming up though. Who are they going to play? Will the running game be utilitized by Colt or someone else or do they have a trick play up their sleeves waiting to be released?

We should have better running backs. We usually do. Jamal being here probably hurt recruiting and then when he left early it put us in an awkward position. I cant get over how good USCs, LSUs, UFL backs are, and they have lots of them. Even when we werent such a powerhouse at one time we had Shon Mitchel, Ricky Williams and Anthony (Priest) Holmes on the same team. We should be able to recruit a fast power back whwnever we want.

Maybe he's talking about Trent Richardson out of Florida. I believe he's committed to Alabama. If either he or Michael would commit to us on the spot I'd like to have him.
