Need wine boxes

The kind cases come in. I want to use then for storing newspaper and kindling so my dad doesn't just have a pile of it in the nice den. Willing to buy. All my SA possibilities are out or never were in the business.

Spec's usually has a ton of them up front. They'll let you take them for free.

Specs will let you take the boxes, but you have to pay for wine crates. Anyone have any leads on where to get wooden wine crates?

Spec's charges $10 for the wooden crates. I don't know of any place that gives those away for free.

Thanks to Sangre for looking that up for me. We don't have a Spec's in SA (that I'm aware of) and the other places I tried including Central Market and other local wine shops either didn't have them, used them themselves for displays or only got them in the fall. SeaZars on N. New Braunfels charged me $5/crate for some a few hours ago.

Nick: out here anyway, Costco has a bunch of the wooden ones. The manager told is that if you buy at least one bottle of "that" wine, you can take a crate with you.

Don't know if that's the "official" policy, or just our store's.

My local Costco (SA) just gave me a flat NO. Said they used them for their own displays.
