Need to remove a dead tree

I have a tree in my front yard that is officially dead. Anyone know of a reputable contact to have it removed? Any idea how much it would cost?

Maybe 10-12 feet tall. Trunk is not very big.

At that size, can you dig out around it, then saw it as long and parallel as you can get? Then cover it with a little dirt and mow right over it.
