I teach S.S. and I try to present both(all)sides to any political choices that may be out there. I usually use the party platform and planks and allow the students to choose which they most likely align themselves with. I ask them what they hear at home and how they think their parents are guiding them. I agree with Larry T. in that statement has to be the most ignorant statement they could have posted if they were looking for support from educators. No critical thinking skills, really?

I think the "real world" message behind the wording in the GOP Platform is: "If we want to tell our children Santa Claus is Real and a very white northern European, evolution is just a secular humanist's conjuecture, abstinence is the only realistic approach to birth control and the world is less than 7,000 years old, we don't want them coming home with book learnin that's gonna make 'em think any different."
