Need Pocket PC advice/opinions

I have an opportunity to buy a practiacally new HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 series for $400, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this model.

My main use would probably be note taking while in the Library and in class (I plan to get one of those pocket PC keyboards, not to use the one on the unit) and maybe to do some limited interenet and IM while on campus. Will this meet my needs?

And how about the price? I've seen them new online anywhere from $450-$550, is $400 a reasonable price for one that's been used a total of 3 times?

Any input is appreciated.

My dad has a Compaq Pocket PC, which I think is pretty much what you are looking at. I think they are pretty overpriced for what they do. I know that shortly after he bought his, he used a couple of Dell Axims (I think that is what they are called) and was wishing he would have gotten one of those instead.
Anyway, his is pretty nice. He uses it wirelessly sometimes and keeps it synced with his home and work computer to transfer things and keep his contacts and calendar updated. I just don't really see them being worth that kind of money. Again, I haven't used any of the other ones though personally so I can't make very good comparisons to what else is out.

I went ahead and bought it, after doing a lot of research with comparable models from Dell, Palm, etc. I got a pretty good deal, and I will use the heck out of it with school taking notes and whatnot at school and keeping up with my job. I actually disagree that they are overpriced, because I was also looking at laptops, and really all I want a laptop for is taking notes and maybe some websurfing in class when it gets too boring, and this fits nicely, for a lot less than a laptop.

Glad you ended up liking it. I am always a little hesitant buying stuff like that since it's hard to find too many people that have them to see what they think. Sounds like you will get some good use out of it... until you find some more games to put on it. Then it is just another expensive gaming device. That tends to be what happens to me.
