Need help with custom shirts in Houston

I used to go to the Custom Shop but they suck ever since they emerged from bankruptcy. Norton Ditto just made me some that were so badly measured I had to take them back (e.g. they were over an inch off on the sleeves).

Surely there is some tailor who can make me a reasonably nice custom shirt for about $60.00.

No I can't buy off the rack because I am 6'5"/200 lbs. and a regular shirt is too short and way too big around my waste.

Muchos gracias.

I had some made at Bill Walker Clothier along with a couple of suits but I am not real happy with either. Hamilton shirts has been in business for over 100 years and I hear they make a great product, but I'm not sure they have anything in your $60 price range.

damn dude... 6'5" and 200lbs? you're a skinny mofo...

I would assume that you have checked that place in the Galleria huh?? what about Harold's.. do they make shirts? you can also check with Lucho in Uptown Park, however I think his dress shirts are like $110...

I don't know when he's coming to Houston next, but George Balani of Riviera Tailors goes there at least twice a year, and he's always booked solid, and it's all word of mouth. As far as I know, they do no advertising. George takes your measurements, sends them back to Hong Kong, and they make the shirts, suits, whatever there and airmail them to you. His shirts were fine, excellent quality, but his suits are even better, although you need to be quite specific in what you want, because he'll put you in something very middle-of-the-road otherwise. If that matters to you, as it did to me. I haven't ordered from him in years but we talk sometimes when he's in KC or StL, as he was a good friend of my father.

I'm still wearing the suits they made for me 15-20 years ago...when I wear suits, that is, which is seldom. But I'd put their workmanship up against anyone's in the world, and are to my mind the very best of the traveling Hong Kong tailors.

His e-mail is [email protected].
