I scanned an image that came out at 2.4 mb. i need to essentially lessen the resolution substantially - say to around 300 kb. how do i do this? i can use photoshop, imageready or iphoto. i have no experience with photoshop so step by step instructions would be kickass.

thanks

didn't work. the file is too big for photoshop to utilize that function. sucks up all the memory. is there a way i can increase the available memory to photoshop?

Imageready; that's what it's for. Don't have it in front of me but basically make it display 2-up or 4-up, so it will show you the image before and after the suggested reductions.

photobucket.com - an image hosting website. Images larger than 1 MB are automatically resized. You can then further reduce the size through an edit function on the site.

If you are not wanting to reduce the size of the image, but only the resolution - Photoshop should do it. I have never had a problem loading anything on photoshop. You can change the amount of memory cached used by going to Edit>Preferences> then go to Memory and Image Cache.

Good luck.
