A bit of a random question. I don't have insurance (self employed) and i dont have like a doctor picked out here in Austin b/c i rarely go if ever. I want to get a prescription for Lamisil and also have a place to get the required blood work done. I looked at UHS b/c I figured that would be a cheap place to get it done, but theres no Alumni thing for it. What would you, the general counsel of Hornfans, think would be a good process (and inexpensive) to accomplish this?

If you'll go get screened for one of the ppd medical studies you can get your blood work results for free.

Easy way to scam the system a bit. They won't help with the prescription, though.

Figure out whom you want to go see, then call and ask to speak w the office/practice manager. Tell him/her you are a cash pay patient willing to pay up front and offer to pay 130% of Medicare for the office visit. I doubt anyone in Austin is getting close to that from very many insurance cos. these days.

Labs are a little trickier, but if the doc has one he works with, you may be able to get a break there. Also, it doesn't hurt to call around.
