Need car stereo recommendation (with AUX input)

I'm looking to replace the factory radio in my Silverado. Nothing fancy, but here are my criteria.

1. CD player

2. Auxillary (AUX) input jack.** I want to be able to plug my iPod directly into the radio. Been using an FM transmitter for awhile. It's okay, but the sound quality isn't great. I don't necessarily need to be able to control my iPod thru the radio. I'd be cool with (and would actually prefer) to scroll thru my music on the iPod itself.

3. Otherwise good quality. FM radio reception, logical button interface, quality design, etc.

4. HD Radio might score some bonus points, but isn't a huge requirement.

You got any recommendations, HF? Any particular brands I should focus on or avoid? I will probably order from Crutchfield since they include the extra hardware and installation instructions.

** I have a n00b question. Lots of the units I'm looking at say "compatible with [Brand X] iPod adapter." Is the adapter only necessary if I want to control the iPod thru the receiver unit? Will the AUX input jack still function without the adapter?

Most if not all new in-dash CD decks have the aux jack you want. The jack is pretty standard and should be fine with your ipod cable.

Just as an example, go to Circuit City's website, input your truck's info in the car stereo section, and see what's available.
