Need Austin downtown hotel advice

With the FLA game officially set for 6pm and our free place to crash no longer available in Austin, the wife and I need a hotel room for the first time ever in Austin. According to most travel sites most downtown hotels are booked up for the 30th but these are still available.

Intercontinental ($215)
Radisson ($189)
Residence Inn ($179)
Hampton Inn ($209)

We are not hotel snobs but we don't generally stay a travel motels (Super 8, Days Inn, etc.) so I've ruled those out.

We also won't spend anytime at all in clubs or bars while there. Our basic requirements are a nice clean place to sleep, decent price and easy access to Town Lake for running on Sunday morning. I'm leaning towards the Radisson.

Advice?

Not to sound like a smartass, but why are you insistent on staying downtown if you're not going to spend anytime enjoying the nightlife?

Stay up by 183 & 35 at the Doubletree or Hampton Inn, save yourself $100 a night, and make the short drive down to Town Lake whenever you're ready to go running in the morning.

Good point. One requirement that I didn't mention is that we be within walking distance of the stadium (we walk pretty far). Plus, when we run on Sunday morning we'll be doing about 12 miles and the last thing we want to have to do is jump in the car. We'd rather just walk up to our room and shower.

Well, I don't know anything specific about the others, but given the small difference in price, I'd go with the Intercontinental. It's a little closer to Town Lake than the stadium, but not by much.

raddison and intercontinental will have room service and the like, as the are full service.

residence inn and hampton will not. although, i have stayed at he hampton inn and suites downtown several times and i like it a lot. they have a pretty good breakfast (better than most), a rooftop pool, and fluffy white comforters. that way, you can see they are clean.

about two weeks ahead.

ive always used priceline for saturday night football stays. austin hotels rarely sellout for football games, especially against a team like FAU.
