the ole VCR burned out and I am forced to buy up
, but the choices are confusing.
- is there an advantage to buying a DVD recorder with a Hard Drive? Does it make a difference if its 80GB vs. 160 GB, besides the price? Is the Hard Drive used for editing, so if the DVD Recorder does not have a Hard Drive, no editing is possible?
If there is a recorder with a hard drive, does that mean that the TIVO service is not necessary?
what about combination VCR/DVD recorders? A main point to buying is to convert old VHS tapes to DVD, but does it help to have the 2 components in one unit? I've got a spare VCR that could function as a feeder but will I gain quality by having it in the same unit?
Some recorders are only either -R/-RW or +R/+RW. Is there an advantage to either, price or performance?
what brand do you own?
