AC just went out tonight, fan not working ourside or inside, tried the fuse box, changed the batteries in the thermostat, nothing. I need the name of a good AC repairman in Dallas.

HELP!

dlatin - Sorry for your A/C problems. Don't know if they will go to Dallas, but it might be worth a telephone call (many businesses here say they will go anywhere in the Metroplex) - Tom's Mechanical in Arlington has done my A/C for over 20 years. I've found them to be very competent, responsive, and fair. Might be worth a telephone call. Good luck!

I know an emergency like this is when you just want it to work again, but in the past I have found it easy for you to get ripped off by AC repairmen.

1st time I had service a stupid little thermal regulator would cut off the fan if the attic was too hot. ($10 part)

2nd time it was because a capacitor that started the fan on the compressor went out. ($25 part)

Luckily I had people I could trust both times.

Thanks for the respones, I called a guy a friend recommended, I may try the Arlington guy as a backup.

I used Master A/C to replace my heating and cooling a couple of months ago. They did a good job and had a fair price. I would imagine that they would have competitive service call rates too.

Called Dallas Perry with Perry Aire, came out and did a GREAT job. Fixed the problem and diagnosed a problem I will be having at some point in the future, gave a lot of information about my unit.

As he was talking to me about what he did and how the fan will probably be going out pretty soon it kicked off, he went up and checked it out and pulled a buch of insulation that was causing the fan wobble. Now my AC is quiet like it has never been since we bought the house 2 years ago.

Cost- $90 - WOW!
