My three roommates and I are looking for a house to lease for next school year. We want a 4 bedroom with at least two bathrooms. We don't mind getting away from campus, just not too far. We take very good care of our current apt. Please if anyone knows of a place that might be for rent starting August email me at [email protected]. Thanks a lot. Hook'em

they have one of the best rent sections/classifieds for students, as most people won't lease to students.
 
when i was looking in the tarrytown and west austin areas on all of these houses. The people asked me what I did and as soon as "student" came out of my mouth, it was..."oh" nevermind. Didn't even ask me anything else, assumed I was some hellraising, unresponsible student.

Thats just my experience though.
 
when you look to lease a house in Tarrytown and W Austin in general (and you're a student), that is to be expected.

Most students don't rent in those areas, however.

understand. Its just that prices out there are the same prices as west campus and west campus is dirty and nasty. Would even pay a small premium to live there.
 
If you are looking to pre-lease something for next school year, and you are not wanting to live in a "student" area, then you are looking way too early. As a general rule, only student properties will pre-lease that far out, because they know that they are going to have the turnover because their tenants are graduating or they are just kicking them out. Unless a very special situation arises, you won't be able to lease a house in another part of town until 4-6 weeks before you are wanting to move in.
 
for the coming school year? I have a rent house that will be available around mid-summer. My tenant might want to get out of his lease early. But it is 15 minutes north.
 
Thanks for the input everyone. I know that it is too early to look for houses in more residential neighborhoods, but the dilema is that I'm working in Wyoming this summer, two of my other roomates will also be elsewhere, and the 4th will have a full time internship, so he will hardly have time to really worry about finding a place. We are trying to find some way that we can find a nice house that can accomodate our situation. We would not be able to move in in the middle of the summer. Not till August 25th. Check out Austin360.com. There are tons of rental houses on there and some good deals. Just pick an area and search. I would look South or SouthWest, but that is just me. You can get a cool country house with some acres for around 1100 a month for a 3 bedroom.
 
that's hilarious. I thought his was at ATO as well. Hahaha.

The ATO's have improved dramatically around campus, on that note. Some stand up guys and some good friends of mine. Their "new" house is down by those tennis courts on Lamar and 24th.
 
As for the GAY TO's comment, back before the bust up in the 80's, the ATOs were up there with the Delts and Fijis as far as stature on campus.

I think Delt has flamed out big time now...All you ever hear baout are the SAE, FIJI's and KA's.
 
thats funny.... I too thought he was an ATO.

How far from Campus would you live? I have a 4 bedroom that I am going to be renting out around that time frame, but it is about 15 minutes from Campus.
