Need a good mojito recipe

1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)
4 mint leaves plus sprigs for garnish
"White" or light rum (2 ounces)
2 ounces club soda

Use a highball glass.

Put mint leaves in glass and squeeze the lime juice over it. Add the powdered sugar and smash it all up with a spoon or whatever you have until you can smell the mint (try a wooden spoon). Then add crushed ice, rum, and stir. Top off with club soda. Garnish with more mint or a slice of lime .

To go more authentic, see if you can find sugar cane syrup and sub it for the powdered sugar.

I have learned to always leave the stems of the mint in there, they have the most flavor when you crush it up. I am also impressed with anyone that gets two ounces of juice out of one lime.

the stems thing was listed by me on the linked older mojito thread.

It is critical.

and sorry mayberry, but POWDERED SUGAR has no place in a mojito. ever,

SUGAR-

Get the type of sugar that they use in Brazil for their caiparinhas (sp?).

You can find it at larger grocery stores in a BOX (not a bag). It is smaller and it costs more, but it says "Fine Sugar" or something like that and often in a Green/White color pattern rather than the normal pink or blue/white.

Normal sugar will never disolve.

FROZEN MOJITOS are good as well. A little fruity, but good.

turbinado sugar is what they use in cuba, so i'll use that.

or, simple syrup, if i need to take a short cut.

ALSO-
Use Havana Club Añejo Blanco "Ron"
(Rum). The flavor is so much better than Bacardi it is ridicu...

oh wait. Sorry. You can't get that in the States. Too bad. Soooo smooth.

If you ever get out of the country, try the Cuban rums. They are very nice. Beat the **** out of even Bacardi Ocho Años.

our tailgate had mojitos yesterday. you should have made an appearance. we are also better at the Soulja Boy than y'all.

Scott, you made it rain mojitos.

PS: I notice the "mystery ingredient" was not listed. I will assume you're not going to mention it?

NCAA:

If you're referring to the angostura bitters, they are listed on that other linked thread. just a dash makes a big difference for some reason.

I'm not a big mojito drinker, but the frozen mojitos they serve at The Flat in Houston are ******* awesome on a hot day.
