I have a bump under the skin on my left inner bicep. Its not visible but i can feel it when rubbing it. Sometimes (rarely) it can be kind of tender.
Obviously i need to have it looked at but dont know who or what kind of doctor to see. I'd like to skip the step of general physician if i can. One reason is i dont have a general physician, although i probably should, and two i feel like he would just recommend me see some kind of speaclist.

So who or what kind should i see? Also i guess any recommendations for a general physician for a 35 year old?
Thanks

If insurance is paying, I think you have to go to the GP, and they might be able to diagnose the problem. If not they will refer you to a specialist. If you are paying you could go straight to the specialist, but which one? Dermatologist? Is it a cyst, a tumor, an injury related muscle problem? Sports injury, requiring orthopedic doc?
That's why the GP might be the best place to start.
Do you live in Austin? I gave a respected GP, but insurance squeezes him so much he can hardly spend any time with you, but I can give you his name.

Is it kind of wrinkly, almost like a really small nipple? If so, it's a skin tag, and is nothing more than a nuisance. Under the arms is one of the more common locations for them. It could fall off by itself eventually, or you could have it cut off.

Sounds like a small lipoma (a benign fatty tumor) or some type of subcutaneous cyst. A GP/FP should be able to handle that; even some experienced PAs...at least, out here in CA where I worked we had a couple of PAs with a lot of operating room experience and minor office surgery experience who did such excisions.

Im personally leaning toward the small fatty lymphoma. It is insurance so i guess i should see a GP. Hell, like i said it probably wouldnt be a bad idea at this point in my life anyway.
Thanks guys
So recommendations?

Yes I'm here in Austin

Dude, at age 35 you should see a doctor anyway. Get a checkup and establish a relationship and a comfort level with a doc. If you don't like the first, find another that you do like.

I'm 46. I had moved 40 miles, and had new insurance, so I found a new doc, a younger woman. She says "why are you here". I say just a general checkup, that I'm feeling fine. She says "wow...men just don't do that...thank you for coming in and letting us get some baseline info from you, etc, it makes our job much easier when you are sick".

Big Will is correct, at least by the age of 40 all men should start getting a physical (including EKG) every year.
