I thought we played very good defense. Nebraska was taking bad shots and just hitting them. What can you do when they consistently hit deep 3s with seconds on the shot clock? Not much. THis was by far the best game we have played of the 3 in a row we lost.
That's a pretty good observation. The idea behind playing good defense is to create turnovers or low percentage shots. We did the latter fairly consistently, but they still hit a lot of them down the stretch anyway.
Sometimes **** happens. It really sucks when it happens on the tail end of two poorly played games, but hopefully Barnes will be able to take the positives that were there and build on them.
I think what pissed me off the most is our inability to score when in the later part of the game. Someone to go to the hole and draw a foul or kick out to a shooter.
On Cookie Miller's three that put NU ahead for the first time in forever, Mason was guarding him, and Miller looped a pass into the post, who, I think, was double-teamed. Mason rushed down to make it a triple team... but the ball got looped back to Miller, and he was able to set himself and get off the shot as Mason rushed back.
I know most coaches would rather give up a long three anytime, but that seemed like a bad idea.
Otherwise, I'm generally in agreement. And, as far as that goes, none of these losses have been disasters, given that they recovered from 17 down against K-State, and Missouri's a decent team (but not a great one). They've been close to winning all three, which is frustrating, but not a sign they they are collapsing.
