NCAA recognizes UCF's national championship in record book

OK, so the NCAA is now not only spineless, gutless, clueless, but has finally achieved brainless.

File this right next to the BYU championship as a total joke, travesty, and insult to real championship teams down through the decades.

I'd prefer the record books to list 'claimed national championships' instead of finding something like Colley to list UCF 2017 (school claimed) or Ok St 2011 (not school claimed).

Colley is one of the better computer ranking formulas out there.

Nah, none of them are anywhere near as bad as Colorado in 1990. Not only did they have both a loss and a tie while Georgia Tech had a tie but no losses (and the schedule difference wasn't all that extreme, GT had a win against #1 Virginia mid-season, and in their bowl game they walloped a 2-loss Nebraska team more decisively than Colorado had), but everyone knew Colorado had 2 losses if not for being gifted a magic 5th down to beat a Missouri team that went 4-6 the rest of the year.

The NCAA is trying to absolve itself from people looking back and talking about how it screwed a school out of a deserved opportunity to play for a national championship.

So, being ranked 5th at the end of the year before bowls may be the best path to the National Championship, at least if you are undefeated.
