Ncaa Officals admit mistakes

No, it said the Syracuse backcourt violation was called incorrectly. They mentioned the Texas example later in the article without regard to what the NCAA officials said about the game.

Correctable error. Conference with all officials.........make it right. I officiate a lot of basketball. **** like this gives us all a bad name.

I think the guy had his mind made up when he started his 4th stroke that "I got him" and then he actually interrupted his 5th stroke to make the call. Watch the video and you will see he puts up the five fingers at the start of his 5th stroke and by that time the kid had turned and called for time out.

Forget the clock for now, If he extends his arm on 5 and then makes the call I have no beef with the call.

Now back to the clock, if you watch the video in slow mo you will see he completes the first stroke at less than 0.25 seconds from the time the ball touches the players hands. That tells me he wants to have the chance to make the call for whatever reason. The ball touching the player is the zero count not the 1 count, he rushed the 1 count by at least a half second.

Tiger, the ******** call on us was/is not a "correctable" error.

84 is on to something. and the solution comes from many people of course, but I heard Tom Penders repeat it the other day, use officials who have not reffed in your league throughout the year. Of course, the refs arent' "assigned" a league, but they ref a lot in certain leagues, this guy was a PAC-10 guy for the most part.

I guess a good question would be to see what he was trying to "make up" for? Was it the previous play when Tristan stood straight up, and their star guy missed the shot?

just think if corey throws the ball into the back court, nice and high, by the time anybody gets possession and gets moving there's less than 10 seconds on the clock. move into position for a shot, and there's 7-8 seconds, if we intentionally foul, they have to make two free throws just to tie.

no, I'm talking about when somebody touches the ball in backcourt, by the time you get going and get back in the front court, I'm picturing a contested "jump ball" in the backcourt, would waste lots of precious time.
