Great job by the Horns on day one - they are in 1st and 30 points clear of #2 Auburn (Stanford is 3rd, 41 points back). I thought this meet was a toss-up between three teams going in, but it is hard to imagine the first day going any better for Texas. A lot of great swims (and dives) but my vote for best performance by a Horn...Peter Jameson in the 50-Free. He only finished 21st but was seeded 67th or second-to-last. Moving up 46 places is something that just doesn't happen...keep it up Horns! Friday should be another good day so hopefully we can pad our lead; I think Saturday is the strongest for our two nearest competitors so we need to put a little distance between us if we can.

Yes, some great swims on day two (800 Relay, 4 swimmers in the final of 200 FR), but not quite as good as day one. I had expected us to pad our lead a little entering the final day of the meet, which we really needed to do, but a few things didn't quite happen as they might have. I'm a little apprehensive with just a 6-point lead going into Saturday..on paper it looks like Auburn and Stanford are quite a bit stronger on day three. It should be an exciting finish...go Horns!

Final day prelims are over and Auburn nailed down 8 final spots compared to just 3 for the Horns. Their placements were higher also with 4 swimmers qualifying top 3 vs. just one top three finish for Texas. We do have a couple of swimmers seeded top 5 in the 1650 FR (no prelim), an event Auburn isn't expected to score in, but it looks like the Tigers may end up with a comfortable win in the team race. I'm hoping for the best though - let's go Horns, finish strong!

Terrific meet for the Horns...we lose Klueh and a few others to graduation, but the vast majority of our point scorers are young and will be back, along with a great incoming class. Congrats on a great performance!
