Guess they'll announce the national seeds tomorrow.

Each regional field features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, May 29, to Monday, June 1.

Florida State is hosting for record 28th time, while this will be the 19th time that Arizona State and LSU have hosted a regional. Clemson (12th) is the only other institution to host 10 or more times since the NCAA went to the regional format in 1975. Georgia Tech is hosting for the ninth time, while Cal St. Fullerton, Florida and Rice are hosting a regional for the eighth time. Mississippi and North Carolina are hosting for the fifth time.

Oklahoma is the host for the fourth time and East Carolina for the third time. Hosting for the first time are UC Irvine, Louisville and TCU. Six institutions (Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina and Rice) also hosted in 2008.

Did I miss it or are we not listed in there? I know we have to had hosted a regional more than 10 times since 1975

Since 1979, and including this year, Texas has hosted twenty-three regionals at the Disch, and one at Dell Diamond. In 2000 we hosted a Super against Penn State, after winning the regional at Tempe.

In history, Texas has been sole host of a regional thirty-four times, prior to this year.

I would say that write up had a paragraph missing.

Was hoping a third Big 12 team, say K-State, would draw a regional, but I suppose the Mildcats' RPI was too low, even though that's supposedly not a factor in these selections, right?

Looking ahead, how many Big 12 teams will get tournament berths in addition to Texas and zero-U? K-State, Mizzou and aggy are shoo-ins, but what of Kansas and Baylor?

My guess is KU goes but BU stays home.

Which regional do you all think we will be paired with? If memory serves, in 2007 (Wichita) 2006 (Ore St) 2005 (Oxford) 2004 (Talahassee)

Hard to say. The NCAA leans more toward actual proximity now than trying to pair the #1 regional with the #16 regional, so we could be looking at Ft. Worth or Houston.

However, they have shown more of a propsenity for pairing the #1 overall seed's regional with a farther away regional if it seems obvious that pairing them with the closest regional would be unfair. And clearly if Rice gets a national seed, Texas won't be paired with them. A lot of the projections I've seen have Texas (as the #1 seed) paired with the Louisville regional. But if we're not #1, all bets are off because I don't think they would try to protect us if we're #2 or below.
