NCAA Football 09

This hits the stands in a week (July 15). Anyone else excited?

I usually wait and buy my sports games used, but I might have to make an exception on this one, since it'll be the first football game I get for my new PS3. Online dynasties look interesting (and the "quarterback quiz" feature is a lame idea), but I guess it will really depend on whether the gameplay is improved over the 2008 version.

I didn't even buy last year's version because I was so frustrated by the '07 update. From what I heard about '08, I made a good decision.

I made the mistake of buying NCAA 08 and it was awful, I took it back to the store for Madden. I haven't finished downloading the 360 demo but I'm hoping its a giant leap forward in the series. Imo there hasn't been a single year on the new gen of consoles that was worth a damn.

for the first time in about 8 years i may not buy this game and im kinda depressed about it

they have to make improvements but i cant really blame them...people buy the game anyways

on the same boat as most everyone here. after buying 2008 last year, i told myself i wouldnt do it again without noticeable improvement. the time is here again, and very little improvement has been made.

Sounds like downloading the demo is the right answer. I really want to play a next-gen college football game, but if it's not going to be a significant improvement over NCAA 2006 (which has the added benefit of allowing me to play our national championship season over and over again), then I'll wait and grab a cheap used version in a few months.

I might pick it up for the Wii. I'll probably try renting it first though. If I love it, I'll play it for hours and hours....if it is meh then it will gather dust.

I've been loyal to EA College Football since the Genesis - Bill Walsh versions but last year's PS3 version was a travesty!!! I've downloaded the demo for this year and the playing mechanics seem to be the same. I loved the PS2 version and didn't understand the need for such a radical departure for playcalling and performance on the field.

That said, I'm a sucker and will probably end up buying it once more, the add a sound feature and online leagues sound too cool to pass up...although it's gonna be really tough to put CoD4 down.

I usually buy the game every other year, but I am about to pass on my third consecutive. I rented 2008 for my PS3 and I was as disappointed as everyone else. I wanted to see a huge jump forward, especially with the power of the PS3. I still haven't seen it. If it happens, I will go get it though.

I played the demo that you can download from the PS Store. Granted I havent really played the last couple of installments but it played pretty well. Some cool additions.

Apparently there is an online dynasty mode in the game. Up to twelve people can join and play, recruit, etc. Sounds like it is going to be fun. Is anyone on hornfans going to start one on the PS3? Let me know.

Rented it for PS2... I wasn't expecting much, but quite frankly, it's embarassing. I'm waiting for the day the EA sports and NCAA contract go up.

I skipped last year's ps2 version - recently bought the 80gb ps3 and a hdtv - wow this game is awesome, but thats coming from someone who only has 07 on ps2 to compare it to, those who have seen 08 on next gen console may not think so, i dunno, but i'm really impressed for what it's worth

midnight purchase at gamestop ftw

I went to Walmart this morning on the way to work. After finding someone who actually new what a Xbox360 was, the manager told me that they did not receive any yet and turned to walk away. I told him I had a hard time believing they did not have 1 single game, since I had bought all the past years' games there (most at midnight) and asked if he could check in the back. He told me there was no need, and I gave him a nice, "OK Chief."

I'll have to hit up Gamestop or check back at Walmart at lunch.

do you think they will have patches or something to download that has all the player names listed? i hate looking at numbers

To get rosters with names you just need to access the EA Locker of someone who has the edited roster file with names of all the teams. Sounds very easy, although I haven't picked up the game yet to try.

I have never missed a year from PS2 to Xbox to 360. I will definitely buy it. My friend gets the rosters every year and brings them over. I will try to find out where he gets them for the 360.

I need a PS3 roster! Anybody?

Also, how will it work when you play online... Do you have to have the same rosters to have names show up? (I'd assume so because otherwise one person could tweak his roster to make the players better...) Or do you just have to play with boring numbers when you play online?
