With 43 days still to play out before Selection Monday, the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Sport Committee provided a sneak peek in regard to their current thought process on Monday, providing the first of three February top-10 rankings in seed order.

February 1 – Top 10 Ranking

UConn
South Carolina
Notre Dame
Baylor
Texas
Ohio State
Arizona State
Oregon State
Maryland
UCLA

Others receiving consideration: Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State and Texas A&M.

That's BU #4, Texas #5. Wouldn't this be the same scenario where A&M beat Baylor in the regional final to go on and win it all?

I gotta say, it would be worth two more losses to BU for the exact same ending. (A&M had lost to them three times that season, only to end BU's in the 4th matchup). Plus, it would surely send Mulkey over the edge for sure. I forget what punishment was meted out on her for her remarks of that situation.

It would also happen on the same court in Dallas.

If the standings stay as is, and we lose to Baylor, and/or if they stay unbeaten, we will be headed to some God-awful place like Sioux Falls, SD for our NCAA's...and Bleepin' Baylor gets the trip to Dallas....we have GOT to beat them on the 29th...just HAVE to...!!!!!

I realize that, I was speculating if this were March. I can't help my schadenfruede when it comes to Mulkey. It includes a Longhorn NC along with a Mulkey meltdown

On topic, I love this "reveal 10" at this point in the season that's meant to generate interest in the sport. Hopefully we stay on track for a strong 2 seed or better.

I would prefer to slide into that 4 spot (likely by beating BU in Waco) so that we can be assured a spot in the Dallas regional. If we are a #2 seed no promise that they will still send us to that regional site

We will NOT be in Dallas if we don't win out and BEAT BAYLOR!!
They will absolutely NOT put 2 Big 12 Teams in the same Regional...so, it's win or travel to "East Egypt"...and maybe face UConn way sooner than we would like...
:soapbox:

Charli Creme's latest bracketology has TX in the Notre Dame regional, I know his is just speculative but he does a pretty good job. We would have to win out including the Big 12 tournament I think to get the last 1 seed.

It's happened before multiple times, because the tournament values attendance above all. Hard to argue that UT vs ND in Spokane would be even remotely close to generating the buzz of UT BU in Dallas. Which is where the committee has us placed currently. Conference affiliations are irrelevant to the committee after the round of 32. They have us at 5 which would make us the first #2 seed which puts us with BU as the worst #1 seed. Both likely headed to Dallas.

I also don't think that having to "win out" is necessary. Winning either the conference tourney or regular season tournament will do well enough. Our resume and top 50 wins are better. We would only need one head to head win imo to get the edge.

Hmmm..I would love it if you are right...but I am not optimistic about being in same Regional as Baylor..however, I DO like your thoughts on us getting Dallas w/ one win over the Bears...
I am a bit scared for our next few games, we have had some shaky starts lately, and Hilton is a bi#c# to win in...!

We agree again. Traveling to Ames and Norman with slow starts or lackluster efforts could be disastrous. Strong starts to bury the crowds earlier are very necessary.

Latest Charlie Creme Bracketology has us as a #2 seed in Notre Dame's Regional in Sioux Falls..:brickwall:
No Big 12 Teams are placed together...I think if you look at the history, is does not happen very often...OU is in Lexington, Baylor in Dallas, OSU in Bridgeport (Ha, Ha, good luck in THAT regional) Sorry to beat a semi-dead horse, but WE HAVE TO BEAT BAYLOR..(& all other games)
I am first to admit CC is not always right, BUT....he will be correct on Baylor in Big D unless......

Not a fan of it...it has the very real potential to sway the voters on rankings and otherwise see things that skew the manner in which the data goes to the Committee at the backend.
