Interesting website I ran across. Well, for whatever reason it doesnt go straight to the Texas page. But if you click on games through 3/29/09 and continue you can get to Texas or any other school.

Nice site. As expected, on the 3/29/03 stats, out of 288 teams, our ERA is #1. Our Hits allowed is #1. Our walks allowed is #1 and our fielding is #6 ... WOW.

Ok, now on to batting, and #276 in Home runs, #266 in scoring, #233 in batting average. Those things deserve a Wow wow, actually. How sad.

Hope the bats somehow turn around. It is just not possible for this team to be THAT bad in batting. We just have to turn this around. If we can score even 1 more than the current 4.6 per game scoring average, we will be very tough to beat. That only needs us to move up inside #200 in scoring. Keep hope up.

After two more weeks and 8 games since this thread started, we have improved in batting and stays just about there in pitching and fielding.

Stats after 4/12/09 games.

Batting Average --- #231 (0.277)
Scoring --- #254 (5.2)
Runs --- #236 (165.0)
Hits --- #228 (281.0)
Doubles Per Game --- #252 (1.53)
Triples Per Game --- #163 (0.22)
Home Runs Per Game --- #250 (0.47)
Home Runs --- #244 (15.0)
Slugging Percentage --- #253 (0.383)
Stolen Bases Per Game --- #189 (0.97)
Stolen Bases --- #184 (31.0)
Base on Balls --- #124 (130.0)
Sacrifice Bunts --- #5 (40.0)
Hit by Pitch --- #239 (23.0)
Sacrifice Flies --- #76 (16.0)
Earned Run Average --- #1 (2.16)
Strikeouts Per Nine Innings --- #94 (7.5)
Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings --- #2 (7.1)
Walks Allowed Per Nine Innings --- #4 (2.42)
Fielding Percentage --- #6 (0.978)
Double Plays Per Game --- #126 (0.84)
WL Pct --- #15 (0.75)

We have inched up from 4.6 runs per game to 5.2 in two weeks (but we have been averaging over 6.5 in the last 12 games). HRs have improved too. We have moved up from #276 to #250 (.29 to .45 per game). 7 HRs in the first 32 games and 8 in the next 8 games. We are averaging 1 HR per game for the last 9 games. Slugging up from .367 to .383 ... 136th to 124th in walks, and 7th to 5th in Sac.bunts. So, the offense has certainly improved considerably, though the rankings are still pretty bad because of a total bat eclipe for a 10 game stretch in the middle.

As for pitching, wow wow is the word. In ERA, Texas 2.03, ASU 2.37 and Virginia 2.67 were the only teams under 3.00 two weeks back. Texas 2.16, ASU 2.43 and Virginia 3.16 are the best three now. We have dropped a little to 4th in BB allowed per game, with Tulane, Dartmouth and UCR moving just ahead of us. Pepperdine edges us out by a whisker in hits per game. I ran the combined Hits+Walk stat per 9 innings - and Txas with 9.52 is the only team below 10. Only ASU, Pepperdine, Virginia, CSFullerton and CoastalCarolina are below even 11 in that stat. THE best pitching staff out there, with no doubt at all. Add to that a fielding percentage that is 6th in country, which is greatlly helping the pitching.

Keep it going, horns, keep it going!

It would be cool to see our batting average over the last 15 games or so. I don't know how to do that...

Based on the individual pitchers, we have our work cut out for us the next few weeks. We will be facing:
#3 - Morris - Kansas State
#16 - Raley - A&M
#98 - Miller - Baylor
#152 - Hales - A&M
#189 - Verrett - Baylor
#193 - Volz - Baylor

Next week you also get to face the #18 team in BA, and the #3 BA and #1 RBI guys in the nation.

Should be fun, let's hope we don't have the Balkmeister working the game..............LOL

Walks Allowed Per Nine Innings --- #4 (2.43)
Fielding Percentage --- #4 (0.980)
Double Plays Per Game --- #102 (0.90)
WL Pct --- #23 (0.72)

Genrally the numbers deteriorated in most categories except defense this week, as you would expect when you go 0-3-1 in a week (stats do not include the 12-2 TexasState game Tuesday).

Though our ERA went up noticeably after last week's games, the other top pitching teams' ERAs seem to have gone up too. There are only two teams under a 3.00 ERA and the other is ASU with a 2.66 ERA.

Neither Baylor nor aggy seems to be as all-around good in all stats like KSU was (they were impressively balanced all around - and that may have been a reason for our troubles to get over the hump against them).
